I had a baby at age 45 by surprise

I had a baby at age 45 by surprise, but I would say every year after that decreases significantly.

I am 45 and pregnant, so to me you are very young! Everything is relative (so to speak). Most of my friends had their babies in their 40's.

I just spoke with my mom, and found out that my grandmother had her youngest one at age 44. The doctor told her she was in menopause, and she told him that she was nauseated and thought she was pregnant. She was. So...... if genetics have anything to do with it, I hope that I am still fertile.

I was reading some book reviews on Amazon yesterday on the train ride home last night, I was reading the reviews for "Inconceivable" - I thought of you when I read a review from a 44 year old woman who became pregnant after reading the book, and applying some of the suggestions. It can happen!

I am 46, and I am not going to let that stop me at this point. I am healthy. Family history, Grandma had her last one at 44. Most women of my family go into menopause around 52. I know in my heart there is a golden egg out there waiting to be fertilized and grow!!!! I am just trying to be optimistic. There is nothing to lose.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
