Yvonne Coleman-Davis became pregnant with twins when she was 41 years old, in the spring of 2010.
Yvonne, a corrections officer who works an overnight shift, eventually miscarried one of the twins she was carrying.
Yvonne said she asked to be reassigned during her
high-riskpregnancy so she wouldn't have to be in close quarters with inmates.
Her superiors refused, she says.
After the miscarriage, but while she was six months pregnant with the twin who survived, Coleman-Davis was kicked in the stomach by a female prisoner.
She was required to fill out paperwork before her superiors allowed her to go to the hospital.
I was horrified,Coleman-Davis told The Jersey Journal.
All I was thinking was, I was going to lose that baby. I lost one, and now I'm going to lose the other one.
She did not return to work until after her daughter Veronica was born on October 28th.

July 20, 2012 -- It was only a matter of time before a family as big as the Bates was given their own reality series.
Bearing 19 children, making them one of the largest families in the U.S., the Bates, from Lake City, Tennessee, are the stars of a new TLC series titled United Bates Of America.
The giant clan are best friends of the famous Duggar family who boast 19 children of their own.
The eight-part series began filming right after Kelly Bates, the family's 45-year-old mother, gave birth to baby number 19, Jeb Colton.
The Bates' children range in age from six months to 23, 18 of whom were seen in the TLC special Baby Makes 19 when it screened in March.

So she had fertility in her family, but still, I found her inspirational.

When my mom researched her family tree, she was amazed at how many women had children late in life.
Right from when they got married at 15 or 16 years old (the research went back to 1529 AD, when early marriage was normal), until right when the menopause hit at 48 years old, or even 50 years old.
Both my grandmothers had their last child at 43 years old and 46 years old respectively...

I was listening to the radio yesterday, and there was a lady on the phone on a talk show.She and her husband stopped practicing contraception and started charting her cycles.
They already had two grown children.
Now they also have a 4-year-old, a 2-year-old and she's pregnant again.... and 46 years old!
Which means she was 42 years old when she had her 4-year-old and 44 years old when she had her 2-year-old.

The infants, born in June at 33 weeks and weighing about 3.5 pounds each, are doing well.
But one daughter developed a serious digestive disorder common to premature babies, which has already resulted in one surgery and will require another.
She cannot tolerate formula.
And Fiona is determined all four babies continue to consume only breast milk, because of its antibodies and nutrients.
I just feel these guys were so far behind the 8-ball already, they had so much catching up to do, and to me it's the least I can do,said Fiona.
I owe it to them.
And she doesn't exactly have a lot of spare time. The 45-year-old mom also has two older children, ages 4 and 22 months. This new supply of several thousand ounces has eased the pressure.

I went through the menopause six years ago and was too old for fertility treatment in the UK
Karen Johnston, 54, gave birth to twins Asa and Imogen 13 weeks prematurely in March.
She lives in Bicester, Oxfordshire, with husband Roger, 55, a former Army sergeant who now works for a car manufacturer.
The couple have eight other children — Daniel, 33, Jemma, 28, Scott, 27, Amy, 26, Aiden, 17, Bethany, 14, Joseph, 13, and Willow, two.
Karen says:
All I've ever wanted is lots of babies.
But had I looked like an old lady and been in poor health, there's no way I'd have continued having them into my 50s.
I went through the menopause six years ago and was too old for fertility treatment in the UK.
So Roger and I flew to the Czech Republic for IVF using donor eggs and conceived Willow.
We did the same last year to conceive Imogen and Asa, at a total cost of £6,000 for the two separate treatments.
I wouldn't recommend that women choose to wait until my age to have children.
If they've met the right person I'd urge them to get on with it in their 30s.
We won't be having any more. The twins were the perfect way to bow out of childbirth.
