I had my baby girl at 45 years old with my own egg, my first pregnancy.

I conceived quickly, within two months of figuring out how to use a basal temperature chart.

Now, at 47 years old, it is proving more difficult to get pregnant.

But my theory is as long as you have a period, it can happen.

It's just a matter of hitting the right cycle.

So just be ready every cycle! Good luck to you!

Lisa - Proud 47-year-old mother to a very active 2 1/2-year-old.

I was Dr. Toth's patient in April 2005. I come to him after losing almost any hope to have another child. (My daughter is 24 years old).

After 2.5 years of acupuncture, 3 cycles of Clomid, 4 medicated IUIs [intra-uterine insemination], three IVF [in vitro fertilization] with transfer and another 3 IVFs which were canceled due to no response, in Cornell doctor's opinion, I had no chances to conceive using my own eggs.

Dr. Toth was my last hope.

My husband and I got tested and my husband was diagnosed with Chlamydia infection and some other bacteria.

He was tested multiple times in different in-fertility clinics, they found nothing.

Not NYU, not Cornell, nor Columbia.

We both had full Dr. Toth's treatment in April 2005 (by the way it was covered as out-network procedures by United Health Care)

After we finished the treatment, Dr. Toth told me, you will get pregnant within 6 months. And I did get pregnant in October 2005.

But I lost the baby in December due to a chromosomal abnormality. I had D+C [Dilation and curettage] in December 2005 and got pregnant again, the second cycle after D+C.

I am 44 years old and now I have a beautiful baby boy.

Natural pregnancy!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had my daughter at 41 years old.
I got pregnant on this baby at 44 years old.
I will be 45 years old having the baby.
Please, God.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Amy was 48 years old when she became pregnant; Tom was 45 years old.

They had been married for eight months.

They hadn't counted on pregnancy, but they hadn't tried to prevent it.

It would be a long shot, they figured.

Then, in the summer of 2005, Amy had an unusual menstrual cycle.

She went to see her doctor, who had told her a couple of years earlier she might be entering early menopause.

A few days after the appointment, the doctor called Amy at work and asked her if she could talk in privacy.

Then the doctor told her she was pregnant.

I said, 'Yeah, but are you sure?' Amy asked.

It felt like a miracle.

How else could she explain it?

Isn't it funny how when you are 20 years old, you think 40 years old is too old to have a child?

But when you hit 40 years old, it doesn't seem too old at all?

I know plenty of women who had children later rather than sooner in their lives.

My sister had her first baby at 40 years old, and her second baby at 43 years old.

Her kids keep her young, and she is so much more relaxed about it then I see some young mothers being.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.

    I had a miracle baby this year at age 45, with a very unexpected pregnancy out of the blue. He is my fourth child. I had infertility issues in my thirties, so never dreamed this was possible. In spite of all of the daunting statistics, he is perfectly healthy. The pregnancy and vaginal delivery were wonderful. I am so thankful I did not terminate as recommended to me early on. I had an early amnio so I would know what I was dealing with, which was very helpful in putting my mind more at ease. Although my 48 year old husband was initially mortified, he got used to the idea fairly quickly, especially after finding out our baby was healthy in spite of the odds. Our 3 elementary school children, myself and my husband are crazy about this baby and feel so blessed he has joined our family. Miracles do happen. I wouldn't change a thing. Never thought I'd get this chance again, and am appreciating it more than ever.

    I am 44 and trying hard to have a baby. The doctors are so negative where I live in Germany. I know I will be a mama. Please pray for my husband and me. Faith changes everything, and God can do anything. I go back to the doctor on Monday. Lord hear my prayer...

    I am 45 and have a 10 year old daughter. My 53 year old husband and I always planned on having a 2nd child early on, but due to some serious financial issues, became scared and didn't want to put our daughter and future child in harms way. So we resolved ourselves in thinking that 1 was enough.

    We are now revisiting the idea of having another. I would love to give my daughter a sibling, she would make such a great big sister! I am moderatly concerned about the states, but my mom had me a 44, and I started having a period later in my teens. Doesn't that have anything to do with our cycle? A nurse told me once that you have a period for about 50 years after your first cycle, does that make a difference?

    Congratulations to all of the mommies out there ! Being pregnant is so great ! A wonderful experience !

    I discovered this wonderful post after exploring pregnancy at 44 years old. I hope that I do get pregnant no matter the age. A baby can be loved and cherished by it's parents and I dont think it is selfish at all.
