I am 47, first time pregnant, all natural.

I am 47, first time pregnant, all natural - After trying to time intercourse for 3 years, and going to a fertility doctor who basically told me that DE were my only option (which I didn't want), and then giving up trying because my husband (who prefers no more kids, his two are 12 and 19) was discussing divorce, I found out I'm pregnant!

I have a friend (Vicky B.) who got pregnant on her first IVF try when she was 43 (she had the baby at 44) and she had high FSH (in the high 20s) and had not had a period for 4 months at a time before going into the IVF. And not only did she get pregnant, but she still has frozen embryos. And she very definitely had a live birth - in fact, the boy is 6 months now and walking!!!!!! - Sally

My Grandmother had her last child at 45 naturally, so there is hope!

My mom talks about calling her mother to announce her first pregnancy and told her she was due in August. Nana congratulated my parents and commented that their baby's uncle/aunt would be a couple of months younger. Nana was in her late 40's and carried my uncle to term and delivered without complication.

When a friend of mine had her first baby at 20, her mom was in the next room having delivered baby #15. Her mom was fast approaching 50.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
