I am 45 and found out I am pregnant at 7 weeks. I too thought I was entering menopause and took a home pregnancy test to just rule out the possibility! It turned out positive. I have had two ultrasounds to date, one with the developing yolk sac and the second with the baby at 2.5cm and a heartbeat! This is my first child and it wasn’t planned. After the initial shock wore off, we are settling down and beginning to realize what a blessing this event will be.

Sounds like I'm definitely not alone. I am turning 44 next week and pregnant for the 4th time with 2 successful deliveries and 1 miscarriage. Like many of you, my 2 two delivered "babies" are spread out: a daughter who is 25 and a son who is almost 8 years.

I'm at 29 weeks and this is our first baby for both my husband, age 43, and I at age 44. It's been going well and I feel fortunate that I haven't had any morning sickness or other problems. We are both excited and counting down the weeks. - Karen

Well, there's another one out there! I am 9 weeks pregnant and will turn 45 next month. I have 2 other children, a daughter age 12 (next month, too) and a son, age 10. Baby #3 is due in early April.
I try not to read all the scary stuff. I read everything before and worried with my other ones, too. I realize this time that worrying doesn't help anything. I believe this child is a blessing (the others certainly have been) and I'm eager to meet my next blessing. - Rachel

I am 48 already, no plan to be pregnant in this life time. But it happened recently ... No idea what to do.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
