44y Comaneci welcome baby boy to the family

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Nadia Comaneci and Bart Conner are the parents of a baby boy. Dylan Paul was born Saturday, the first child for the gold-medal winning gymnasts.

Comaneci was due to deliver in July, the 30th anniversary of her seven perfect 10s at the Montreal Games.

"He's a few weeks early, so he's a little small -- 4 pounds, 10 ounces -- but he's just fantastic. He's awesome, in fact. He's really cute," Conner said.

"It's just something that's totally a part of you," Comaneci said.
"As Bart said, it's a miracle because you stare at the little child and you just don't want to go away. You just stare at them."

Conner described his emotions as a mixture of excitement, fear, elation and terror.

"There's every emotion laid out there on the table," Conner said. "It's pretty overwhelming."

The 44-year-old Comaneci delivered Dylan by Caesarean section Saturday morning. The delivery room staff created a poster proclaiming the boy a "perfect 10."

"Everything's great. We'll probably stay here a couple of days and then go home. So far, everything looks good. He's strong and healthy and Mom is doing great," said Conner, 48.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
