I communicate with a gal who keeps a journal on motherhood....She is a raw food devotee and lost 50 lbs. after her last baby. She just found out at 48 years old, she is pregnant with # 9 and thrilled to say the least. Linda

I just wanted to let you know it's a singleton. I honestly thought it was going to be twins, because my beta numbers were so high. Teri age 45+

Here was a study done a few years ago. Women who were all in their 90's, and even a few in their 100's - all had given birth after the age of 40 (of course all natural, no treatment back then) The study implied that women who lived a long "healthy" life and gave birth older, in fact aged slower. That’s why the 'eggs' were still good.

Just went for my first OB visit yesterday and I am 8 weeks pregnant! I had just resigned myself to it not happening due to my age (will be 47 this year). We are being cautiously optimistic but not telling the other kids till we are further along. I go for the first trimester screening with the nuchal cord translucency and blood work on Oct 13th. This is totally an unassisted pregnancy - I had given up on the ovulation tests and timing everything. I will keep you posted.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
