Midwife delivered 49y who conceived naturally

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Wednesday, February 15, 2006 | 0 comments

Just heard recently via a friend who is a midwife at a local hospital here that two weeks ago she delivered a baby to a 49 year old who had conceived naturally. So it is possible sometimes!

Here I am at 47 and it looks like this baby is fine by the ultrasound and the CVS. But I still worry, I guess we all do.

I am 45 years old and 34 weeks pregnant with #7! My older six kids are from my first marriage and they are 21, 20, 17, 15 times two and 13 years old. 4 boys and two girls with #5 son soon to come.

My girlfriend, who will be 46 this October just delivered her second child in 4 years. All conceived naturally.

Oh, at the same time that I found out I was pregnant, a dancer/teacher friend of mine in NYC who had never had any children found out that she was pregnant. When she confided in me that she was pregnant ( I knew she had to be older than me), she said of course the doctors had to be careful because she was close to 46!. She had NO fertility help whatsoever. Her husband was 42.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
