Used her own eggs at 52

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Saturday, March 01, 2008 | 0 comments

The doctor who did my CVS [chorionic villus sampling], Dr. Williams, who has done over 16,000 procedures, said the oldest woman he ever treated with her own eggs was 52. The baby was chromosomally normal.

I am living proof that this [The Secret] works. I've been practicing the general rules/philosophy for a little over a year. After 3 miscarriages I am currently 16 weeks pregnant. All tests show that this baby is healthy.

I was 43 and a half when I conceived, and will be 44 when I deliver. This is my first baby. I know focusing on the positive has attracted this baby to me. Give it a try. What do you have to lose......... Maybe just some negativity in your life. - Anne

From my perspective, it's very possible to get pregnant after 40, even though I've yet to carry to term.

A close friend just had her second baby at 45. Conceived naturally. First was born when she was 43, also a natural conception. She'd tried IVF [in vitro fertilization], IUI [Intra-uterine insemination], the whole thing. Never worked.

I wanted to introduce myself, my name is Pauline, and I am 46 and have a son who turns 1 on March 4th. I am so thrilled to have found you group of woman.

It will be so nice to talk about things to women who can relate, and not get the shocked response from someone much younger when I tell them my age lol!

Believe me, no-one was in a bigger state of shock than me. For years I was told conceiving was very slim, I was married for 23 years, got a divorce, met a younger man, and well, need I say more??

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
