She will be 45 when the baby is due

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Friday, August 17, 2007 | 0 comments

Thought I'd drop a note to encourage us "older" wantabees! My friend just told me she's expecting! She's 44, and will be 45 when the baby is due!
Gave me more hope!

I am almost 43 and TTC again after a loss a few weeks ago. It's never easy but it's harder to give up. You are still young enough to have babies. My grandmother had one at the age of 48!

I just went & checked the Chart Gallery, and was surprised to find that right here on FertilityFriend.com we have six ‘over 50’ pregnancy charts with seven more ‘over 50’ pregnancies that ended in miscarriage!

50y - 3 pregnancies, 1 miscarriage
51y - 3 miscarriages
52y - 1 pregnancy, 1 miscarriage
53y - 2 pregnancies, 2 miscarriages

My sister's husband's parents had him in their mid 50’s (he was 56, she was 54) now in their 90’s. They are still doing great, living on their own….

My maternal grandmother actually had triplets in 1952 with no assistance at the ancient age of 43, then another child 18 months later. Of the triplets 2 survive, my mum and my aunt both will be 54 next Monday. My grandmother is also still alive.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
