My husband's mother was 45 when he was born

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Wednesday, June 27, 2007 | 0 comments

Don't you love the attitude's that people can get about a middle aged pregnant woman when it has nothing to do with them LOL!! I think that medicine makes us worry so much. My mom was 40 when she had me and I am just fine and my husband's mother was 45, and father was 47, when he was born and he is a physician and very bright. We were both very healthy and lucky to have parents that were mature enough to appreciate being parents. Best of luck to everyone!

I am in my 7th week of a surprise pregnancy at age 45. At 6 weeks I had a t/v ultrasound that showed a healthy heartbeat. My HCG levels were 22,000. My doctor thought this looked good and didn't need to get a follow up reading and I will go back in two weeks.

My girlfriend is 45, and she just told me she is pregnant. We would love to have a child together, if we knew it could be born healthy.

When I had my baby at 45, the doctors were worried about her nuchal fold being too big and a sign of Downs. They also did a sonogram on her heart in utero. My baby was born normal, and her heart is great.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
