My grandma had her last baby at 52, and I intend to do her proud.....

I had my daughter at age 44 with 14 year younger husband. Now I am age 48 and still hoping to have another. 2 miscarriages since our daughter was born. All natural conceptions.

Just wanted to quickly share some really promising news. I went to a new OB-GYN yesterday and she shared that there seems to be some sort of baby boom in her office with over 40 year olds, and that she has two patients over 45 who are pregnant. One is 45 and the other is 47 and they are both "surprise" pregnancies!! (They both are close to delivering, so their pregnancies have been successful)

I just wanted to drop in with some news I found interesting. I saw my OB yesterday for my 6 week check up. He wanted to discuss birth control!!! What a joke! I told him after several IVF's, etc, I didn't think I needed birth control. He then told me about his grandmother who had his father at age 48. He then went on to tell me about two patients who are 45, and pregnant by accident. I then met a lady while visiting my daughter at NICU who was 42, and pregnant by accident after 6 years of trying and finally giving up.

I found it inspirational and was wishing I had heard all these stories when I was trying to conceive - so wanted to share.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
