My grandma also had her last child in her mid-40s, as did her mother!

I had my daughter when I was 44 - conceived naturally. She is two now and still nursing. My two older children (boys) were 4 and 16 when she was born. That pregnancy did take more out of me than any of the others, but I had the other two kids to take care of, and I was working full-time as a paralegal at a law firm.

I am here, too - 45 and pregnant with my second. My first is 2. I am only 5 1/2 weeks along, and I am trying not to worry, but it is really hard.

I met a woman the other day (who's 80 something.. she said she had her last son when she was 47. I love hearing that).

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
