I’m 47 & found out I’m pregnant

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Monday, November 27, 2006 | 0 comments

I’m 47 and found out I’m pregnant at only 5 weeks... I have different emotions, and many thoughts of downs and miscarrying. My 2 daughters are 26 and 22. Just the thought of starting over is scary.

I didn’t think I could get pregnant after all these years. I sometimes see it as a gift from God, and I hope everything go okay .

A friend of mine has a friend that is pregnant at 46. She and her husband have been TTC #1 for 10 years. She has had 15 miscarriages and one terminated pregnancy due to Down's syndrome. Her current pregnancy’s genetic testing came out good. My friend said that it was a natural pregnancy. She said that her friend many years ago had done all fertility drugs and stopped.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
