My own mother had 6 children, and she was 44 when my younger sister was born. My mother, now 85 is still fit and healthy.

A friend of mine tried IVF quite a few times in her 40's and finally carried a baby to term at 47. This baby was with her own egg, which is unusual at that age. Her problem initially when she started TTC was blocked tubes. She'd had a son way back in her early 20's but her tubes had become blocked following surgery at some stage.

My grandmother had her last at 47 and her husband wanted another but she said no.

My mother in law had her last at 45.

By the way, my grandmother was 46 when she had my mom, her first and only child.

I am a stay-at-home-mom to five children, 3 are adopted and I am now 44 and pregnant (total surprise). I am 23 weeks pregnant!!! Time is flying!!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
