New record for oldest mum in Australia
A 57-year-old woman has given birth to twins in Perth, setting a new record for the oldest mum to give birth in Australia.
The Sunday Times newspaper says the woman gave birth by caesarian section after having IVF treatment with donated eggs in India. The woman is believed to be from India, but spent the duration of her pregnancy in Perth, accompanied by her husband.
In 2007, a 56-year-old woman gave birth after receiving treatment from a Queensland fertility centre.
