Older mother - Susan Tollefsen, from Essex, with her first child, daughter Freya who she had at the age of 57 at a Moscow clinicTwo women aged 58 are set to receive fertility treatment at a London clinic as record numbers attempt to become pregnant after the menopause.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.

  1. I do believe that recipients of this medical marvel should be chosen. Not everyone deserves the treatment I daresay simply because yes, as some of the comments here, it would be quite unfair for a child at the age ten having a mom 7 times her age.
But then again this wonder is a gift to all those who have waited all their lives to see an offspring they can call their own.
Please keep us posted with the latest updates on IVF. And oh, before I forget, IVF can be mistaken at times as intravenous fluid.. lol
Well good luck to the soon-to-be mommies and their children.
