Check out Lifetime movie on right now - about a woman 50 years old, got pregnant by accident. The doctor told her all the problems she could have. But in the end, said that most older women do okay.

I hate that my aunt didn't want kids, and suddenly at 40 decided she did, and 6 months later got pregnant, and then had another one at 44.

I don’t like stats because my brother-in-law (a retired OB Gyn) says they're only counting the women who are trying to get pregnant at 44... Thus having a hard time already...

Not the 44 who get pregnant and at his practice 99 % of them were not happy about being pregnant at 44.... You know the surprise, thought I was done with diapers type....

Those who turn up pregnant at 44 are not counted into the stats of 44 year old pregnancies... Am I making sense?

I have a friend who also had scant periods, and was paranoid that she was being menopausal. Since then she has had a baby, and is currently pregnant again!! (She will soon be 44). So don't give up....!!

My cousin married, never had children because of her husband and other personal issues. I am proud to say that at 54, my cousin has 2 beautiful miracle babies. She has been on Oprah and Dr. Phil discussing this very issue. I'm proud of Carolyn and any other mom/dad who make a choice to have children later in life, to ensure their financial well-being as well as their emotional well being.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
