I know someone who is 45, having her 3rd baby soon, and had her first at 40.

My favourite uncle was only 9 months older than me - a menopausal baby. I always considered him my big brother.

I wanted to share with you that when I walked into the my RE's office there was a note on her desk. She read it & was elated - she seemed so happy. She then turned to us and told us that one of her patients had a healthy baby boy at 47 with her own eggs.

Thought that would be something positive to share!

Did you all see the woman on TV that gave birth to her first child at age 47 after not having a period for two years? That was so awesome!

I gave birth to twins last year, using in vitro fertilisation, at the age of 47. The pregnancy went well, I had a natural birth, and I've survived and enjoyed the first year. Being older, you've generally done what you want to do, and are more content. So age doesn't really matter - one can die young or old.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
