I just weaned my baby about 8m ago, at 50!
Hey ladies, I can make you ALL feel better, lol! My name is Gina, and I just turned 50 on Groundhog's day... I have four children, ages 22 and 16 AND - 8 and FOUR!!!! I just weaned my "baby" about 8 months ago. My son graduates from college in three weeks, and my youngest daughter gets on the Kindergarten bus in Sept.

I am soon to be 50. I have a 7 and 5 year old. I don't know any moms over 40 and have always felt like an outsider among the other kindergarten and first grade moms. It's very frustrating.

If you can still have children you aren't too old. My grandmother had her first baby at age 45.

There was an article in one of the cheapo women's magazines about 2-3 months ago about a British woman who discovered she was 5 months pregnant at 47 -- 12 months after her last period! (i.e. she must have got pregnant 7 months after last period -- stray egg, apparently).
She was so certain she was menopausal, she never gave pregnancy a thought and only happened to go to her doctor because she thought a cyst was recurring. She gave birth to a healthy daughter at 48.

On a positive note, my doc told me he has had two patients of 45 this year who delivered healthy babies... so there you go ! Maybe - and I do so hope so - we'll be the next ones to prove the statistics wrong !!

You Can Get Pregnant in Your 40's
I think your story is great and am hoping to share the same story in my own life. I am turning 46 in sept. and have an 11 mo old that is still nursing full time... a 3 y.o. boy in front of him... and 6 girls in front of the 3 y.o.!!! Ages 15,13,12,10,8,6,3,and 11 mo. I am actively trying to concieve again naturally... between child #6 & #7 I miscarried 5 times... and got the 2 boyz after many lifestyle changes. I feel great and in the best health I've ever been and am sooo sure I'll be around to see my 9th child graduate college and beyond. I wish u the best...your an inspiration!! Lyn from Wisconsin
