National Center for Health Statistics report. Among other statistics in the report: There were 1,512 first-time mothers between the ages of 45 and 54 [in 2003].

Mathias and Johanna Eiserloh met in Johanna’s hometown of Idstein, Germany after WWI, where Mathias was a civil engineering student. They shared a dream of emigrating to America.

Johanna, age 44, was nine months pregnant when they left Crystal City. She gave birth to an infant son, G√ľnther, on January 4, 1945, on the train to New York Harbor and the SS Gripsholm. The child’s birth certificate lists his place of birth as New Orleans, LA.

I have a friend who tried ART, and failed. So they gave up hope, and moved to live by the sea! However a few months later she got pregnant naturally at 42 and was very happy! Then 3 years later, at 45, completely unexpectedly, unplanned and she thought she was in complete menopause and so it was impossible, another little baby girl!

Saw the doctor today... He had to run out and deliver a baby whilst I was waiting. The Mother is 48, natural, but it is her 8th. YES 8TH BABY - OMG! He said all fine, no problem.

I'm 47 and I'm 24 weeks pregnant, still in shock!!! It's 21 years since I had my last baby

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
