She gave birth to her first child at age 48!

I heard a nice story over the holidays about a childhood neighbour. The woman has been married 15+ years and just gave birth to her first child at age 48! The pregnancy was a total surprise, as she and her husband had stopped trying ages ago. There were a few scares during the pregnancy, but the baby girl came right on time and is healthy and perfect with parents who are beyond thrilled.

I have a cyber friend from a board I used to visit and at 44, she is pregnant again. She swears by taking the hydrochloric acid with extra B-complex and extra folic acid. She said as we age we are not able to digest properly and that is why our eggs are not good.

I would like to also add my sister-in-law's story -- she unfortunately was unable to conceive naturally, but after 15 years of TTC, 8 rounds of IVF, and her last round, she conceived at 46 and delivered her triplet girls a week before her 47th birthday. All beautiful and healthy 3 yr olds right now.

Well I have another one. A new neighbour here who I got friendly with over the Christmas told me his mother had her last baby naturally at age 46.

I just wanted to add a story for you. I'm watching Discovery Health Channel -- Special Delivery Babies. It had a 47 year old who didn't know she was pregnant. She thought that she couldn't get pregnant because she hadn't had a period for 2 yrs. She was on some hormone therapy and she went to the doctor and found out she was 6 months pregnant. She delivered a perfectly healthy baby girl. It was her first child.
