OB currently has two 47y with healthy, viable pg's in his practice

My 47 year old sister called me the other day. She had just been to her gyn, who insisted that she use birth control if she did not want to have more kids. He told her that he currently has two 47 year olds with healthy, viable pg's in his practice. This is only one doctor. Just think how many others there are. You never know and I certainly keep the hope and continue to eat the right foods and try everything. You just don't know.

I'm pregnant at 43 naturally - I'm 34 weeks right now with a healthy boy - it can happen!!! Don't give up - my boss' sister is pregnant at 45 with IVF with her own eggs! Keep a positive attitude and don't let anyone beat you down.

I had success at age 43, and have been pregnant twice since then (unsuccessfully) at age 45. All were unmedicated natural conceptions.

I know of many successes over 43 - Two were high FSHers - I will say they conceived naturally not with IVF one was 45, the other 44. My cousin was 46, another friend normal FSH - 44. And that's just my little world! It can happen

I live in a religious community where women do not use birth control except under very special circumstances. Women are expected to have as many children as they possibly can. That may sound horrible to our feminist ears, but, that is the life they have chosen. As a result, I know MANY women who are having children at 44, 45, 46 and fewer, but still some, at 47 and 48. I have heard of women having babies after 48, but I don't know them personally. My point is that in our community, a pregnancy in a woman age 44 to 46 doesn't even get mention because it is not considered out of the ordinary. After that age, okay, wow, then people might say that she is really "blessed." There are Down Syndrome kids in this population but surprisingly, it is not the huge number that you might expect. MOST of the babies are healthy and normal.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
