Great grandma had 21 kids, her last one at 52

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Thursday, April 27, 2006 | 0 comments

My husband's great grandma had 21 kids, her last one at 52. She lived in Germany when Hitler was in command, they were all blond haired with blue eyes. Her husband died not long after she had the 21st. Hitler knew of her and made sure she had enough food....... so my husband thinks we have all the time in the world for me to get pregnant.

When I went to my OBGYN I found I was one of the younger moms (at 41). They have late 40 and early 50 pregnant moms.. So cool! They told me I was a "youngin"

I am 45, and mom to Katie, who will be 1 year old next Thursday. I expect that she will keep me young!

I have a 2 month old I had with a little help from my hubby and I am 43 almost 44 so you can do it and the baby will be healthy. They told me my son had Downs due to a blood test they did without asking me. Try to talk me into a abortion, no way for me either. And my 2 month old is perfectly healthy. So it can be done even with old eggs as they told me I had.

By the way, my OB said she has had "tons" of patients 42 and up with great pregnancies. Just think of yourself as an experienced 'yummy mummy' and be proud!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
