From the Donor Embryo list a woman who is looking into donor embryo for herself tells of her husband who was born when his mother was 49 or 50. He never thought it was unusual to have an older mother because his two closest male friends' mothers were 47 and 52 when they were born.

A 44 pregnant midwife reported returning from a camping trip with other midwives. The midwives were all talking about one of the recent home births they had attended. The mother was 52 years old and had an easy home birth and healthy baby.

Although the woman was in her mid-forties and TTC and not receiving much support from doctors in the US; she said her husband who was born in Honduras was totally supportive and reports that women in his country have babies throughout their 40s and it is not unusual at all for over 50 grandmothers to have babies. The woman thinks it must be dietary differences.

Amanda owns a Chinese herb internet business and during her 20's and 30's not only experienced infertility but many other health problems. She started taking Chinese herbs to correct other health problems and then after always being childless had her first baby at age 44, a healthy girl.

My neighbour who works at the local hospital just had to stop by to tell me that she was in the delivery room today with a 46 year old who gave birth to her 5th child. The pregnancy was a complete surprise.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
