My OB dr is currently seeing a patient who got pregnant naturally at the age of 47 yrs.

Just found out from my mom (who is a twin and the last of 8 kids) that my grandmother was 45 when she had my mom and uncle.

I had an appointment with my Doctor for an ultrasound. I saw a little peanut, A very strong heartbeat, so all is well so far. My due date is Middle of January. This was third try with IVF. I'm 43 years old and soon to be 44. I have a 19 year old son in college and a daughter who is 18 years old and on her way to college.

I told [my dr] that I am aware of my risks and many women in their 40's have healthy children. In fact, my grandmother had her last child at 48.

My dermatologist's assistant told me a story the other day about her sister who was 46 when she conceived naturally, and just had the baby who is delightful and perfectly healthy. So don't give up hope yet!!!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
