Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Monday, March 27, 2006 | 0 comments

Pregnant at 51, photographer Annie Leibovitz is the latest, and perhaps the oldest, entrant in the burgeoning celebrity class of Mothers of a Certain Age. She follows Cheryl Tiegs, also 51, who recently delivered twins; and playwright Wendy Wasserstein, who had her daughter, Lucy Jane, at 48.

Alison, New York, Became a mom at 44, # Child: Olivia, 10 months
We decided to try, and we conceived right away. Luckily, my pregnancy was easy, and I felt great the whole time. (Of course, because of my age, I was advised to undergo all sorts of prenatal testing.) I delivered by C-section three weeks early because of some complications, but Olivia is perfectly healthy.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
