I don't pay lots of attention to stats. In Jamaica it's quite normal for women over 40 to have children.

My great-grandmother had her last child at the age of 41-43 yrs old (the date of her birth is listed differently on the census versus in the death records, but either way, she was in her early 40's when she had the last child.) On my grandfather's side, his mother had her last child in her 40's.

My grandmother had her first child at age 35, 2nd at 40, and 3rd at 45.

My grandmother had multiple miscarriages and a stillbirth in the early years of her marriage and after being married for 9 years, she had my Aunt then went on to have 5 more children for a total of 6 having her last at the age of 43.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
