Cheryl Tieggs has said in interviews that she used her own eggs and a surrogate at 52. But studies have found that just 0.2 percent of women at that age, supermodel or not, can produce viable eggs.

This morning I met a co-worker who informed me his wife at age 47 got pg, naturally and delivered a healthy baby boy. He had a vasectomy many years ago that came undone also. They had three grown children already and consider this new one (who is four yrs old now) a huge blessing. And the neatest thing was it just came up in conversation. I have stopped talking about having babies. I think I was being reminded it can happen.

My mother was 44 when she gave birth to my little sister but has no idea why she never felt pregnant in the 12 years before my sister was born. Life is strange. Miracles can happen.

My father was born when his mother was 45.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
