I am 44 & pregnant with our 1st

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Thursday, July 24, 2008 | 1 comments

I am 44 and pregnant with our first baby. My husband is 47.

I was pregnant before, but miscarried at week 9 due to a blighted ovum. Less than 2 months later, God smiled on us and we are pregnant again... which is a miracle, considering it took us a year and a half to conceive the first time.

I am now at 10 weeks, and saw the baby on ultrasound today. I am happy to report that he or she is progressing nicely, and has a good strong heartbeat.

My husband already has a 19 year old daughter from his first marriage, so he is kind of hoping for a boy although we will feel blessed and thankful whatever the sex of the baby.

I am just over 4 weeks pregnant and I am 44 (My husband is 49.) My daughter Lorraine is 18, Winston is 16 and Kevin will be 9 months old on Thursday.

I had a missed miscarriage (blighted ovum) before I got pregnant with Kevin, but was lucky enough to be able to get pregnant right away after the D&C. This pregnancy was a surprise! - Karen

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
