I am 44 and mother of 5. Son 25, daughter 19, son 17, son 13, son 11.
I am 8 weeks, and my husband and I have not told anyone due to a miscarriage 2 years ago, that left the kids devastated. I am excited and guarded at the same time.
I welcome the nausea, ligament pain, and bathroom breaks as it means my body is working hard and doing its job. I also work retail management fulltime and I am a Doula and CBE [childbirth educator].

One woman (43) developed an ovarian cyst after being on fertility drugs. She was forced to take a break, and got pregnant while on her "break".
She went on to have a normal pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby boy on her 44th birthday - a homebirth!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
