Positive pregnancy test at 50

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Thursday, March 06, 2008 | 0 comments

I am so grateful to have found this group!!! My name is Ellen, and I will be 51 in May. Yesterday I had the positive sign on a pregnancy test.

Right now I am still in shock because I thought that I was going thru menopause and just too old. My husband is just beaming and strutting around like the rooster in the henyard.

This will be my 7th pregnancy, two of my babes in heaven, my oldest is 22 and my youngest will be 5 in May. My last OB/GYN [obstetrician/gynecologist] was amazed when I was there with my miracle baby at 46, and now here I go again!

When my sister was pregnant with her children in her 20's, she asked her OB [obstetrician], "What's with all the grey hair in the waiting room?"

The doctor replied that most of her pregnant patients are in their 30's and 40's, and that my sister in her 20's was the exception.

I wonder where all of those women went?????

I was 44 when my son was conceived. He is now 5. I have had several 44 year old clients that had babies, or are pregnant so it happens. Blessings and good luck to you! Del

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
