I have met a handful of over 40 ladies who have had babies. Really in their early 40's. Today I met one who had a baby at 46 and he is three years old now. It was a natural conception and a surprise to her. She had older kids and then she was blessed with an oops baby. It was fun to meet her and see for myself, that it does happen.

Absolutely there is hope over 40. I know several "mature moms". My 45 year old sister is due with her first in the spring.

I guess that I conceived at 43 after 11 months of trying with the help of herbs, yoga and my friend Catherine who turned me on to Wild Yam. I will be 44 when the baby Girl is born in Early April 06. - Maggie

Also today my husband had to get an out patient Operation and the nurse said to me, when she saw my belly, that her 9 week old boy is home. She just gave birth too, at 44 years old!! She was also 43 when conceived, and 44 when she gave birth. So now there is another one to add too!

I was reading an article in Vogue last night, on Carmel Snow, who was hired on at Vogue in 1922 and served as editor in chief of Harper's Bazaar from 1934-1958. She was a woman ahead of her time and a savvy business woman. Her accomplishments were outstanding, but the item that caught my eye was that she had three children...at ages 40, 43 and 45.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
