This overweight mom conceived at 43 & 45!

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Tuesday, January 31, 2006 | 0 comments

Awww, this overweight mom conceived at age 43 and age 45. Before my last baby, my cycles were weird for a long time and I assumed I was moving into peri-menopause, but after she was born my cycles returned to normal and now these two will be 2 years apart. Don't give up hope!

My sister's friend had her last child at 46.

Was talking with a younger woman last PM who was telling me that her best friend just delivered. She (30 year old) was in a 3 bed room in the hospital with a 51 year old who had just delivered her 4th and a 55 year old who had just delivered her first. I just smiled and said "Good for them". Couldn't help thinking -- I'm next.

I am 46 (last week) and had my first last September - a boy who is HUGE now. I am not trying for another just because I have my hands full right now but I am thinking about it. I did IVF for the first (male factor and my age) and have 6 frozen embies if I want to try again. I don't use birth control anymore and I would love it to "just happen".

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
