The one that surprised me the most was when my best friend from high school told me the other day that her mother was 45 when she was born.

Another acquaintance’s Mother was 47 year old. My Grandmother was 43 years old... another friend gave birth at 44 and is going to have another. So it is happening...

I am now 44 and have two children from a previous marriage; a daughter who is 23, a son who is 21 and who has a 1 1/2 year old boy himself. My husband and I have a daughter who is 6 1/2 and we are expecting another baby in June. We have been through 5 miscarriages, the last one was 2 1/2 years ago after extensive infertility treatments. After that we gave up. The reproductive endocrinologist told us that due to a sperm morphology issue we'd never again conceive on our own. So we went about our lives focusing on our youngest daughter, getting the older 2 through college, helping with the grandson. Then in October I thought I was pre-menopausal because my period was late... nope... we were pregnant.

Cindy from Canada and I forgot to mention that I will be 45 in Feb. I have a son who will be 14 March 2005 and I am 6 weeks today. We lost one (before 10 weeks) in Sept 2002. Confirmed our fertility etc and have been trying ever since but things worked out when I began to relax. I used to get so irritated when others would tell me that!!!!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
