My boyfriend’s mom had her last child at 43 -- two weeks short of 44. And my best friend's mom had her at 45.

My friend was told by her doctor yesterday that he just delivered a 48-year-old woman's healthy baby. Apparently, she didn't realize she was pregnant. She was not trying. She went to the doctor thinking her period had ceased due to menopause. She was shocked to learn that she was 5 months pregnant. I do not know if it was her first.

Still in shock over my BFP at 45!

While I was pregnant, at least 5 people told me they had a child at 46 (which is how old I will be when my baby would have been born), or was a child of someone who was 46 when they were born. And that's just 5 people in my little sphere of acquaintances.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
