Ladies of 48 have had successful births

You certainly make me feel young at a meagre 40, but I too have read posts by ladies of 48 that have had successful births. Here's hoping yours is one too.

Will I go au naturel with my very last baby? I will 44, and two months at delivery (9/14/07). My plan is to take the natural path. I will, however, give myself permission to waiver from that decision if I feel I can't take the pain.

Sister in law from Toronto had baby #1 at 45 in Nov 2005...

She said her OB/GYN was so supportive. I have to remember...

My grandma had my uncle in her 40's...

My mom had my little brother in her 40's...

and I'm gonna follow the pattern.

Joy - if you want to hold virtual hands with another over 45 club member. I'm here. From what I've read a little over 5000 women/year over 45 have babies in the US.

Count me into the over 45 club... I'll be less than one week short of 46 when my little girl is due in May. We weren't trying to conceive and this was quite a shock. No interventions, only the surprise of it not being in menopause and being positive pregnancy.

Opted out of all the tests except amnio. Had the amnio. Positive for T21 (downs). So far no other issues. Being "old" gets me an u/s every month. Really great pregnancy so far. This is my 6th child and this child will be 11 months younger than my first grandchild.

When I went in for my first OB appt my dr told me there were other patients my age in there (since I asked if I was the oldest - he say "No way" - that made me feel a little better...) - Maria
