It was my cousin's 44th birthday yesterday. I called to wish her a Happy Birthday, she lives in Montreal so I have not seen her since Christmas. To my surprise, she announced to my husband and I that she is five months pregnant!! My cousin has a five year old girl, and did not want any more children, so this was a surprise to her also. She waited to tell the family to make sure everything was fine with the baby. She is really excited about this baby! Why is it the ones that are not trying to get pregnant DO? It's encouraging news for us TTC..

My husband of 3 years and I are new parents to a 8 week old baby girl. He's 52 and I will be 46 next week. This is his first and my third (I have 17 year old twin daughters from my first marriage). I am thrilled to be a mommy again, as he is to be a first time dad. We are loving every moment with our new addition.

I am pregnant at 48, just 3 months shy of 49. This baby is due the day before my 27 year old daughter's birthday. I have 2 other children ages 25, & 16. I asked a doctor 5 years ago for a tubal ligation & he said I had less than 1% chance of getting pregnant then. Being a little doubtful of his advice, I continued birth control until only a few months ago, thinking if it was that slim 5 years ago, it must be none by now.

WRONG!! Now I find myself planning a nursery instead of retirement. I had hoped to be a young grandmother, not an old mother, but God sends us blessings and I am trying to accept this must be one of them. I still have almost 7 months to get used to the idea.

My grandmother bore her last child at 46 (naturally) and she lived to see her grandsons.

George E. Day Jr. of Queen City, Texas, retired as a fireman with the New York City Fire Department long before 9/11. As the oldest of eight children (four brothers, four sisters), Day’s siblings were spread out in years. “Mother liked to say she gave birth through four decades—the ’30s, ’40s, ’50s and ’60s,” Day said. “My daughter’s older than my youngest brother.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
